Being DiscoveredJessica Stam grew up on a farm in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada with her six brothers and very religious parents. Jessica originally wanted to be a dentist until she was discovered at the age of 15 in a local Tim Hortons (coffee shop) while coming home from Canada's Wonderland. She was discovered by an agent at "International Model Management" agency in Barrie, Ontario, named Michele Miller. Michele Miller spent a couple of months with Jessica teaching her about skin, image and hair styles. When she was ready, Michele sent Jessica to New York for an NY placement. Jessica's career did not start as soon as she was discovered. At first, she shared a small apartment with several other models, waiting to be casted. In 2002, Michele sent Jessica to Paris where she met Mario Testino who later booked her for the Miu Miu campaign and it was when she was 16 years old, Steven Meisel (a photographer) noticed her and cast her in all his ad campaigns including Prada and Dolce and Gabanna. This was the defining point of Jessica's career. Her CareerJessica's career started when she She landed on the cover of Italia and German Vogue and in 2004 and appeared in the Tony Scott short film Agent Orange. In 2005, Jessica was on the cover of Toronto Fashion, Vogue Italia as well as editorials in every single major fashion magazine from US Vogue to ID to Harper's Bazzar. She also appeared on the cover of the Vogue (German & UK), as well as several ad campaigns including Anna Sui, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Holt Renfrew. In 2005 she was cast for 54 shows the following season' and walked the runway for Spring 2006 Ready-To-Wear in 64 shows in Milan, New York and Paris Fashion weeks. Jessica's more recent campaigns have included Armani, Sonia Rykiel, BCBG, and Rochas in 2006 and she also appeared in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2006. For the show she had her own featurette and opened a Theme entitled "Pink". |
